The DCI detectives have launched investigations into role played by father, stepmother and house in the the murder of a six-year-old girl Beverly Mumo.
Homicide detectives said they have every reason to believe that the girl was killed as they focus on establishing how wounds were inflicted on her body and if the children’s department under whose care she was placed also failed her.
Autopsy results show that Mumo died as a result of sustained torture and not pneumonia or Covid-19 as earlier speculated.
She complained of chest pains and was rushed to Mater Hospital where she declared dead upon arrival on August 24. The six year old had been at the centre of a protracted court battle between her separated parents.
Their parents Robinson Musyoki and Naomi Kiamba got married in 2010, were blessed with the boy in 2011 and in 2014 the couple was blessed with Beverly Mumo (deceased).
Musyoki and Kiamba separated in 2017 then resorted into a tedious children custodial battle at the Milimani Court.
In the first round of court proceedings, it was ruled that Kiamba takes the custody of the children but on a condition that he allows Musyoki to have the children every weekend.
The arrangement was smooth until early 2018 when Musyoki indicated that he was no longer interested in seeing his children.
But towards the end of 2019, Musyoki returned to the Children’s Court to be granted full custody of the children during school holidays.
A Magistrate’s Court granted him a conditional custody to stay with his children between October 29 and December 5, 2019 but Musyoki violated the custodial conditions and stayed with the children till Mumo’s mysterious death.
