14-year-old boy set ablaze

A class seven boy from Mandera‘s Kamor Primary School narrowly avoided being killed by a whiskey after his two brothers set him ablaze in their home.

The 14-year-old was identified as a witness in a case in which one of his brothers was suspected of stealing a mobile phone, according to a statement issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The boy is said to have been lured to their house by his mischievous brothers identified as Ibrahim Ahmed and Yusuf Ahmed, before being rolled up in a mattress doused in petrol and set on fire.

“After setting him ablaze, the two brothers immediately went into hiding leaving their little brother for dead,” part of the statement read.

The pupil had been accused of being a witness in a case that his brother Ibrahim Ahmed, was accused of stealing a mobile phone. After setting him ablaze, the two brothers immediately went into hiding leaving their little brother for dead. However, Police officers saw a fire coming from the house and rushed to the scene only to find the poor boy burning! They immediately rescued him and rushed him to Mandera County Referral Hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.

The fire spread so fast across the house attracting the attention of the police who rushed to the scene and rescued the boy who suffered major burns. The officers then rushed him to Mandera County Referral Hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.

The detectives have since launched a manhunt of the two brothers.

“As we pray for his speedy recovery, detectives are hot in pursuit of the two brothers,” DCI posted
