The no nonsense Education Secretary, Prof. George Magoha has warned candidates sitting their KCSE not get involved in cheating or they risk not getting their results.
Magoha’s warning follows reports that some parents in Kisii, Migori and Homa Bay counties have collected money to bribe examination officials to foster cheating.
He stated that rogue tutors and parents behind the cheating scheme have identified the supervisors to be paid Sh120,000, invigilator Sh60,000 and security officer Sh40,000. The suspects have been identified and will face full force of the law.
The CS WAS speaking in Kisumu where he supervised the opening of the exam container for distribution where he also added that the ministry has identified homes close to exam centres with plans to aide exam cheating.
Candidates started with English (Functional Skills) and English (Comprehension, Literary Appreciation & Grammar) at 10:30 in the morning. They will be sitting Mathematics and Chemistry paper 1 tomorrow.
Adding that the entire country is prepared for the national exams, he also stated that government has choppers on stand by for ferrying exams to Turkana, Tana River, Mandera, Marsabit, Garissa, Wajir and Moyale.
Supervising the same exercise in Mombasa, Basic Education CS Belio Kipsang said all the students have been ensured a conducive environment to perform without pressure from rogue teachers and parents.
