More than 20 officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have pit camp at the home of Bomet Senator Christopher Langat since Sunday night ready to arrest him for reasons they have failed to reveal.
The Senator’s lawyer Kipchumba Murkomen said that police did not reveal why they wanted to arrest the lawmaker. He said he had called DCI boss George Kinoti and Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai to confirm why police wanted to arrest Langat but he did not get any feedback.

In a video that has been released online, the senator is seen speaking to the 20 officers through his window at 3 am, he claims he has been threatened and warned not to appear in the senate.

These claims have attracted a lot of reactions on social media. Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot said the move was a calculated attack from the government due to the revenue formula.
Murkomen had earlier revealed plans by the ‘system’ to arrest at least five Senators between Sunday and Monday to ensure they miss the Senate session.
The government is using intimidation and threats to whip senators to support the divisive formula which, if passed, will see 19 counties lose billions of money.
