An exciting swimming and photographic trip at the Chepkulo River’s Kimaya Waterfall turned sad when a second-year male student from Bomet University College was washed away by the surging waves.
After going on a picnic excursion with twelve other students on Sunday evening, the 24-year-old was apparently progressing to a deeper side for a better photo location.
Nelson Masai, the Chepalungu Sub-County police chief, verified the event, saying the kids may have miscalculated the depth of the waterfall and opted to take a risk.
All of the kids with him have yet to be recognized, and authorities are seeking for them to provide statements about the event.
After a two-hour search of the corpse offered no findings, the Bomet County divers decided to call it a night.
Gideon Ngotwa, one of the county divers, estimated that the search would take another day.
