The official spokesperson of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has become the latest member from the Azimio La Umoja camp to weigh in on the controversial national debate regarding the existence of a “State Project” in the upcoming August polls.
Firing back at detractors from the recently formed Kenya Kwanza Alliance (KKA), the Communication Director in Raila’s Secretariat, Dennis Onyango, downplayed allegations that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader has been placed in the general elections as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s secret political card.
In recent weeks, the alliance headlined by co-principals William Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula has been on a ruthless onslaught against Odinga’s fifth presidential bid which they claim was organized and approved behind closed doors by powers that be.
On numerous occasions, the United Democratic Alliance) UDA Party leader has been quoted telling voters that only a few wealthy individuals who are after protecting their business interests are in support of Raila as president.
But according to Mr Onyango, all these efforts are simply diversion tactics by Ruto to conceal the real nature of his candidature.
Speaking out through social media on the evening of Sunday, 6th February, 2022, the ODM diehard asserted that the only “project” in this year’s race is in fact the dangerously cunning second-in-command.
In the post published on Twitter, Onyango described Ruto as a candidate backed by the country’s corruption networks.
“The man whose portrait appears below is their project,” he wrote.
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, while in a campaign trail in Westlands this week, also participated in the sustained labeling of Raila as a government candidate.
“If you see Raila, he is doing campaigns in big tents that are paid for by the government. He should meet people in the field like us,” he claimed.
