Kenyan Bulletin has received information from ODM after a section of Raila’s Movement supporters in Kibra accused the Orange Party of being unfair to some candidates who are planning to vie for the Kibra parliamentary seat on November 7th.
The Kibra seat fell vacant last month following the death of Hon Ken Okoth who was suffering from Colorectal Cancer. 26 candidates are expected to participate in the Orange Party nominations scheduled for August 31st to have an ideal candidate who will lock horns with the Jubilee candidate.
One candidate speaking to Kenyan bulletin on anonymity has said that ODM is making a lot of demands to candidates who have a constitutional right to vie for the seat.
One of the requirement is a Sh 250,000 nomination fee for every candidate who wishes to participate in ODM’s party nominations. Another requirement is Sh 20,000 from each candidate to register as a life member of the party.
“ODM is demanding 250k from candidates who intend to vie for the Kibra parliamentary seat as nomination fee. Before this, you have to use 20k to register as a life member of the party. That’s 270k! Don’t forget you’ve not sorted out the cartels. Democracy in ODM is a SCAM! These people don’t care” the candidate told the Kenyan Bulletin.
