DCI Whoosh Mombasa Magistrate Implicated In Sh30m Heroin Saga To Nairobi

Kenyan Bulletin has learned that the embattled Mombasa Principal Magistrate Edgar Kagoni has been flown to Nairobi.

Kagoni was picked at Kilindini Police Station at the wee hours of today according to our reliable sources and was flown unconditionally to Nairobi. This is after he spent two nights at the cells.

Confidential information reaching Kenyan Bulletin desk indicate that there are possibilities that he could be flown back to Mombasa for trial.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association have moved to court seeking to stop Kagoni from taking plea over the loss of heroin valued at Sh30 million.

According to DCI, the magistrate faces charges of obstruction with intent to defeat justice and aiding and abetting trafficking in narcotic drugs.

Coast DCI boss Washington Njiiru confirmed the arrests saying that “We know what they have done to Kenyans.”

Others arrested include Abdalla Awadh Abubakar, an executive assistant at Mombasa Law Courts, who is held at Makupa Police Station and Lawrence Thoya Bayan, support staff at the court booked at Nyali Police Station.

KMJA says they are concerned about the threats to liberty of one its members -junior principal magistrate Edgar Kagoni – who is a judicial officer serving in the capacity of Principal Magistrate in Mombasa Law courts.

Kagoni is expected to be presented before JKIA law courts later in the day to take a plea.
