The Kenya Redcross managed to rescue over 100 residents of Msambweni while 500 others were rescued by community members at Tanzania informal settlement.

“Voi River bursts its banks marooning 4 villages, Kenya Red Cross rescues over 100 people at Msambweni while 500 others rescued by community members at Tanzania informal settlement in Voi Town. Rescue efforts ongoing in other places within the town at Mlegwa and Manyatta,” Kenya Red Cross tweeted.

This comes a day after a landslide left a death trail in Makueni County on Saturday.

Two residents lost their lives after the November 30 landslide in Kilungu Village that displaced over 20 families.

The rainy season has caused extreme havoc in the country with the Kenya Meteorological Department warning that more heavy rainfall will be witnessed.

A tragic Mudslide claimed the lives of 43 residents in West Pokot County on November 23, after rains cut off a section of Kitale -Lodwar road.

However, West Pokot Governor, Prof. John Lonyangapuo, contradicts the government figure, saying 53 people died from the tragedy.

The Muruny Bridge was swept away by raging waters after hours of heavy rains.

Residents of the mentioned areas are therefore advised to be on the lookout for potential floods.
