In a special gazzette notice dated october 4th, President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Ex-Othaya Mp Mary Wambui to head the National Employment Authority for a three year term. Wambuis appointment was announced by the Labour Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani.
Her appointment was among others including Edwin Abonyo, the widower of the late Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso. Wambui is taking over from Winnie Pertet who completed her term. Winnie has been the chairperson of NEA since its inception in 2016 to replace the then National Employment Bureau.
Kenyans recieved Wambuis appointed with mixed reactions with many struggling to understand what might have pushed the president to gift her with a state job. Most state appointments are given to friends and former politicians.
Mary Wambui is a rumoured drug dealer whose name was under the government radar together with the Akasha brothers who extractided to USA, charged and convicted. She is also rumored to be former president Mwai Kibaki,s secret wife, so she is a woman full of controversies and bad publicity.
Senator Millicent Omanga whose nomination was due to duvet business ties led disgruntled voices condemning Wambuis appointment. Omanga in her facebook post alleged that the former law maker has no knowledge of the job.
