Revealed: How police officers planned and robbed Ksh. 6 million from two people in Eastleigh

Days later, details of how police officers colluded to rob two people Ksh. 6 million in Eastleigh, Nairobi has emerged.

Simon Mwaniki who was involved in the deal is said to have handed ober his firearm to a senior police officer under unclear circumstances.

The senior officer popularly known as ML from Luhyaland, a Commissioner of Police, attached to the National Police Service headquarters. We could not establish if it is true that ML has recorded a statement with detectives over the matter.

Those who have recorded statements are individuals suspected to have planned the robbery, the businessmen, owner of the guest house, among others.

It has emerged that Mwaniki made away with Ksh. 2.5 million after the Eastleigh robbery. He is said to have been driven to Kayole Police Station and gave part of the money and a pistol to a female officer identified only as Carol.

Carol gave the money to Kayole Police canteen manager Petronila Njeri to hide.

Njeri is well known within Kayole Station having operated the canteen for 10 years. Njeri ran for MCA in 2017 elections but lost.

She is alleged to receive bribes from suspects to facilitate release and hand the money to police officers based at the station. She handles money running into thousands per day.

The two women drove to Ruai and met the police commissioner whom they gave the gun and a part of the money. The commissioner then returned the pistol to the armoury at Ruai Police Station.

Four suspects, including police officers and a foreigner, were charged over the robbery. They were captured on CCTV cameras at Barwqo Lodge in Eastleigh.

They robbed Mohammed Hassan Mohammed and Abdulahi Hussein Yusuf of Ksh. 6 million.

ML is seen as an accessory in the robbery more so, being aware the junior officer had committed a crime and helped him to avoid arrest and prosecution.

ML served as a senior police officer in Eastlands, Nairobi, until 2012 when he was moved eventually landing at Vigilance House.
