Who are the 200 Kenyans to be feted at the Mashujaa Day event?

Mashujaa day celebrations are going down at the Mama Ngina Waterfronts in the coastal city of Mombasa. The head of state, Uhuru Kenya in Mombasa on thursday, Handshake partner Raila Odinga got at the coast yesterday.

Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibiko said that no foreign heads of states are expected in the event. Even Museni of Uganda is not coming. It´s an all locals affair and they expect some 50,000 people to attend.

Mashujaa is a national day that sometimes has been treated with no respect. The fete in Machakos acouple of years ago was a display of political immaturity. Writers of presidential speeches deliberately avoided to capture the known facts about this day and the heroes who paid the price for its birth and our great nation.

Again, this day has been used to fete individuals deemed as boot lickers of the current regime. That is not right, political dirt should not be allowed to stain a great day like this. Former TV host Jaque Maribe was honoured by the president on a day like this, she did not live up to it. She covered only Jubilee stories, had affairs with the Jubilee top brass and crowned it by starring in a murder case.

Dennis Itumbi and Martin Kamotho aka Githeri Man did just the same thing, dragging the crown in the mad. Itumbi was always in court with Jaque, he was widely mentioned to be behind letter on DP William Ruto´s assassination. He is posting crazy pictures and lying. Githeri Man himself sank and drowned in cheap liqour.

As it always happen, there will be categorization and it must be noted that each year comes with different people because there are many Mashujaas in this country.

The greatest marathoner of all times, Eliud Kipchoge is expected to be honoured at the ceremony. He jetted there yesterday. But apart from Kipchoge, who else will be honoured and will be worth the honour, sycophants or friends? They might pull a surprise by gifting some naval officers who might have done little in retrieving the bodies of Mariam Kighenda and her daughter Amanda Mutheu who drowned on September 2019th.
