Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has dared his party, Amani National Congress to expel him for supporting ODM, including the last weeks’s by election where ODM Canditate Imran Okoth won.
Hon. Malala who was speaking in Kakamega town said that he would rather face a by-election than apologise to ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi.
He added that he attended ODM rallies in Kibra as ANC’s highest leader but he did not back ANC party’s candidate Eliud Owalo because he (Owalo) was DP William Ruto’s ‘project’.
Malala described ANC move to suspend him from the party as malicious and a serious waste of time. He said he has no apologies to make Mudavadi because he supported Imran of ODM the same way he supported ODM leader Raila Odinga in 2017.
He described ANC party as one that has been hijacked by selfish individuals with narrow minds to accomodate divergent opinions. Malala said that people with divergent opinions in ANC are branded as moles and renegades.
Claiming that the move to suspend him was to humiliate his said he has not recieved any official communication from the party. Decision to suspend waas arrived at after Malala conduct was reviewed by the party’s Disciplinary Committee.
In a letter dated November 15, ANC Secretary- General Barack Muluka said the party’s National Disciplinary Committee had suspended Senator Malala from membership of Amani National Congress with effect from November 14 / 2019.
His suspension is in line with Article 50.10 of the Party Constitution and Article 14 of the Political Parties Act.
Malala complained of harassment, frustration and poor leadership in ANC. He said that he will not challenge the matter in court and he is not scared of facing the electorate again.
The presser was attended by ODM, Jubilee and Ford-Kenya officials and supporters from Kakamega County. They promised to back and campaign for Mr. Malala incase he is expelled by his party.
