Ruto: Don’t let the political class hijack BBI to share positions

Deputy President William Ruto has hailed the BBI report for covering majority of the problems facing. While addressing the gathering during the launch at the Bomas of Kenya, the DP asked Kenyans to bevery vigilant not to allow politicians to hijack it for their selfish interests.

Ruto urged Kenyans to read, understand the report and highlight their opinions.

“We must be keen that this process is not hijacked by the political elite and turned into a power sharing project”, Ruto said.

He further asserted that there will be no inferior or superior opinions and that every Kenyan must be given the an opportunity to read, understand and make their own decisions.

Ruto also praised President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s action to unite the nation through the handshake and BBI.

He stated that the report should strike a honest debate among Kenyans and unite Kenyans but all should submit to the rule of law and respect institutions that have been set up under the law.

He also pointed that the reform will create a united country where both losers and winners will form the government.

Ruto said the country must address the fear and the challenges of ordinary Kenyans and should not concentrate on sharing positions and power.

The DP who has been considered an anti BBI cruder said the country should avoid a costly, controversial and divisive process. It is a good gesture that BBI taskforce confirms that it is possible to build consensus and realise a united a country.
