8 gunned down in a botched robbery in Industrial Area

Police in Nairobi have gunned down eight suspected criminals who had broken into a godown in Indurstrial Area, Makadara Sub County, last night.

Police reports indicate that the robbers broke into Sihra Coffee Machinery Service and Gensham Wood Enterprises godowns and were loading goods into a waiting Mitsubishi canter with registration number KAS 340M.

“The chief controller reported that there was a burglary and stealing at a godown along Lungalunga road opposite shell petrol station. Police officers from industrial police station swung into action,” the report read further.

Filed under OB NO 37/23/08/2020 at Industrial Area, the report also shows that about 12 people armed with pistols and pangas were executing the theft. They were challenged by officers to surrender but opened fire forcing the officer to fire back and fatally injuring eight while four armed suspects escaped with bullet injuries.

The officers recovered two homemade pistols loaded with 9mm ammunitions, revolver and pangas from the 10pm incident.

The canter with the exhibit was towed to Industrial Area Police Station while the bodies of the eight were taken to City Mortuary.
