Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is not this year’s 56th Jamhuri Day celebrations at the Nyayo National Stadium being held in his county.
Sonko was on Wednesday evening freed from EACC cells after he posted Sh. 15 million bail but has been barred from accessing his office and commenting on the case on social media.
This comes after he w sent a message expressing his pleasure in joining Kenyans during the celebrations.
“I am happy to join the rest of Kenyans in marking the 56th Jamhuri Day celebrations,” Sonko tweeted.
The flashy and embattled governor stated that Jamhuri day reminded Kenyans of the power of independence and it is important for everyone to fight for their rightful position in society and all aspects of life.
The Jamhuri Day fete is led by President Uhuru Kenyatta. Others leaders in attendance include the Deputy President William Ruto, Opposition Chief Raila Odinga, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen and members of the diplomatic core.
