Al shabaab kill three teachrers, destroy Safaricom mast in dawn attack

Three teachers of  who are non muslims were Monday morning killed after suspected Al Shabaab terrorists attacked a school in Garissa County.

According to detectives, the militants attacked Kamuthe Resource Centre killing three male teachers but sparing female teachers and nurses who were identified by the gunmen.

A child is reported to have escaped with serious injuries after being hit by a stray bullet.

The gunmen also destroyed a Safaricom communication mast during the attack.

They then proceeded and attacked a police post in the area but the officer on duty repulsed the gang as they called for reinforcements.

The attackers are suspected to have emerged from the nearby Boni forest.

The area that gunmen attacked has been calm in the past months as other places especially Lamu were under repeated attacks.

Security agents have been mobilized to pursue the attackers who locals said were about 20 in number.

The attack comes barely a day after the British government issued travel advisory to its citizens visiting Kenya.

There have been a series of attacks taking place in parts of Wajir, Mandera, Lamu and Garissa counties even as police boss Hilary Mutyambai assured the country of security.

Al shabaab terrorists are under pressure from inside their hideouts in Somalia where the US is carrying out aerial attacks. They have crossed to the Kenyan side where they are now causing havoc with numerous attacks.
