New cement factory to create not less than 1,400 jobs

President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday commissioned a new cement factory in Salgaa, Rongai Sub County in Nakuru County.

The Sh6 billion factory is expected to create upto 1,400 jobs.The National Cement Company is a subsidiary of Devki Group of Companies. The president noted that the factory will go a long way in empowering Kenyans and growing the manufacturing sector.

The president said that Devki Group is a great partner in the realization of Big Four agenda in manufacturing and housing sectors. It embodies the best entrepreneurial skills in the country that has opened employment opportunities for our people.

Uhuru also added that his administration is committed towards supporting investors in the manufacturing, value addition and other sectors that contribute to industrialization.

Government will continue to expand roads and rail transport network, scale up electrification and spur speedy development countrywide.

The head of state noted that there is increased demand for cement with the government being a major client for its roads and building construction.

Therefore establishment of cement factories at the countryside will bring the important commodity closer to the people thus reducing transportation costs and giving the people proximity advantage.
