A concerned Kenyan has publicly petitioned one of Mvita MP Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir’s alleged university degrees, which he reportedly earned at Inoorero University.
In the submission seen by kenyanbulletin.com, the claimant argues irregularities in the degree’s awarding because the certificate presented by Abdulswamad to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) only bears the signature of a Vice-Chancellor of Inoorero University, which signature is of a third party and not the official signature of the then Vice-Chancellor Prof. E. Wangui Muchira-Tirima and thus not a genuine document.
Likewise, concerns have been raised over the credibility of the institution that issued the degree certificate to the ODM Mombasa gubernatorial hopeful given its tainted image.
The application also interestingly notes that Abdulswamad’s papers bear the signature of a lawyer, which is contrary to normal practice.
The International University of Professional Studies (IUPS), formerly known as Inoorero University (IU), was a middle-level college in Nairobi.
In 2016, the Commission for University Education (CUE) announced it had shut it down over failure to meet the required education standards.

Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir’s degree is fake.
Why the media is not talking about it raises a lot of questions.

Since when did degrees receive stamps?
According to Abdulswamad, he graduated from Inoorero University.
Interestingly, this University was shut down because of issuing fake degrees by the same CUE.
Inoorero University?
Yes, there is a University that had such a name but was closed down by the Commission for University Education (CUE) after a series of fraudulent papers flooded the Kenyan job market.
The institution was also bankrupt then.
Mr Nassir got his degree on the 24th of November 2014 just a few months before the institution received a shut-down notice, but never updated his parliamentary details in the 2017 elections, which showed that he only had a KCSE certificate. His student registration number 0485 belonged to a different student in the institution’s database.
The Lenana School Alumni’s credentials indicate he graduated with a bachelor of commerce second class lower.
You remember some months ago he talked about working on a Master’s program, yet he has held no other professional job that can grant him the experience to use a second-class lower degree to enroll for a master’s.
There is also no photo of him in a graduation gown.

This is not the first time Abdulswamad’s papers are being questioned.
Just three months ago, in March 2022, the prolific politician seen as Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho’s most likely successor dismissed the degree talks as just another insult that his rivals have been hurling at him.
This came after the lobby group, Commission for Justice and Human Rights, wrote to Mt Kenya University (MKU) and Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) seeking clarification on whether Nassir indeed acquired any Bachelor’s degree from them.
“As such, the commission is obligated to inquire about the status and capacity of leaders to be entrusted to hold such positions of authority.
In light of the foregoing, we, therefore, implore your good office to confirm if indeed the said Abdulswamad was a student and which course he did pursue and the year of study,” read executive director Julius Ogogoh’s letters to both institutions.
Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo and businessman Suleiman Shahbal have also previously poked holes in Abdulswamad’s academic certificates.
Speaking in February 2022, they requested him to come clean on where and when he studied his first degree as he claims.
“The other day I watched a video clip of this guy lying to school children that he has completed his first degree and now he is pursuing his master’s which is untrue. You cannot be a governor without a university degree.
This guy from Mvita is lying to us. First, he should tell us where he studied for his degree,” Mbogo said.
Mbogo sensationally claimed that there were plans for Nassir to be issued with a degree certificate from either Mount Kenya University or the Technical University of Mombasa through back door.
“We are warning our local universities. We are aware that this Mvita guy has approached Mount Kenya University and he has not yet finished studying,” he said.
