Immediate former majority leader Aden Duale has been exposed for forcefully grabbing government property.
Through a Twitter thread seen by kenyanbulletin.com, on Monday, February 7th 2022, a local resident accused the vocal North Eastern legislator of illegally acquiring a piece of land belonging to the Ministry of Health in Garissa county.
The social media user with the pseudo name “SirikaliYaKenya” claims that Duale grabbed the parcel located just a few hundred metres from his official residence through one of his proxies identified as Abdi Ooji.
According to the anonymous netizen, a woman from Garissa Township who blew the whistle on suspicious activities around the piece of land was reportedly summoned to record a statement at the Headquarters of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) along Kiambu Road.
“In any ideal situation, the lady who made this expose was supposed to be celebrated but is now being persecuted for exposing this rot,” the source writes in part of the thread.
Prior to the illegal acquisition, a public officer is said to have occupied a house located within the plot.
But one day when the dentist was away, a huge inferno mysteriously broke out in the compound and razed it down to half.
With the medical officer forced to seek refuge elsewhere, the compound remained vacant for many months.
Then at some point, a group of workers came out of nowhere and began clearing the growing bushes.
Days later, Duale’s associate Abdi Ooji showed up with a team that began re-fencing the entire area, to the surprise of many residents.
“There’s a need for an immediate investigation by the relevant authorities, this is outright theft of public land by those who were supposed to be the custodians of public interest,” the source concludes.
