Outspoken Makadara MP George Aladwa is planning to shift his political base to his rural county of Vihiga as Nairobi politics get hot. Alwadwa wants to vie for Vihiga gubernatorial seat in 2027 and not in Nairobi County where he is currently serving as an MP.
A move to Vihiga will see him avoid contest with UDA Party’s Johnson Sakaja who is currently serving his first term as Nairobi governor.But it will not be the first time that an overated ODM politician will be shivering from a face off with his UDA counter part despite the party producing the city’s first governor, Dr. Evans Kidero.
Jubilee coerced ODM to kill the ambitions of their own Tim Wanyonyi and back a weak canditate, Mr. Polycarp Igathe who flew the former ruling party’s flag. As Aladwa moves home, he will be leaving the Raila Odinga led party confused whether to back up Wanyonyi or a luo candidate as Luhya community politics take center stage.
Top politicians from Western Kenya appear to be backing Sakaja and shielding him against threats by DP Rigathi Gachagua who is bickering and pushing the interest of Kikuyu commuinity in Nairobi. Luhya politicians have called out the country’s second in command and warned him to keep off the affairs of Nairobi County.
Aladwa is ganging up with Senator Godfrey Osotsi to cause political ripples in Vihiga, the backyard of Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Hon. Musalia Mudavadi. The Makadara lawmaker while playoing his signature funeral politics recently told mourners at the burial of the former Shamakhokho MCA Douglas Beru’s father that he is laying ground for the gubernatorial contest in 2027.
“I’m coming here in Vihiga to contest for the gubernatorial seat come 2027. I have experience in politics and I’m hopeful of winning the seat. I’m not a person to be defeated easily the way I see people being defeated here in Vihiga,” Aladwa said.
Vihiga seat will fall vacant when Wilber Ottichilo retires after is serving his two terms. The chaotic politician is expected to run on an ODM ticket against former Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi, former Vihiga senator George Khaniri, former Vihiga county secretary and Federal party of Kenya party leader Francis Ominde who was beaten by Ottichilo in the last general elections.
ODM is using Aladwa to disrupt Mudavadi is fighting to unify Vihiga county and the entire Luhya Nation behind him. The former vice president has managed to bring almost all Vihiga politicians under his fold except ODM’s Osotsi who is still elusive.
He has bagged Ottichilo, Milemba Luanda MP Dick Maungu, woman representative Beatrice Adagala, Sabatia MP Clement Siloya (UDA) and Hamisi MP Charles Gimose among others.
