Alex Mwakideu to quit radio for politics

Swahili radio presenter Alex Mwakideu has revealed he is following his best friend, comedian Jalang’o’s foot steps.

Just like the popular comedian, Mwakideu disclosed he will not work for any other radio station after his stint at Milele FM, where he doubles up as a show host and Head of Radio.

Speaking to Jalang’o on his YouTube channel on Wednesday, July 15, afternoon, Mwakideu said he will quit radio come 2022, and shift his focus on politics.

The radio presenter whose journey started at Baraka FM, Mombasa announced he will be vying for the Wundanyi parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2022 General Election.

”This is my last leg on radio, after this am heading to politics,” Mwakideu said.

According to Mwakideu, his game plan was to end his radio journey alongside his best friend but Jalas left him untimely.

Mwakideu said he wanted them to prove to Kenyans and the world that they are the best there is on air before they both leave radio for good for politics.

”Yes I will be Wundanyi MP come 2022, that is a must. Taita people have requested me, who am I to deny.

“I was in Voi recently and people have even opened social media groups to drum support ahead of 2022,” he added.

The star radio presenter wrapped up by pleading with Jalas to quit alcohol like he did, to which the comedian agreed.

The comedian promised he had ditched alcohol and that was his gift to Mwakideu for always having his back.

Mwakideu and Jalas date way back in the days of Radio Maisha when they caused ripples in the Kenyan airwaves with their amazing duo.

Jalas left Maisha for Hot 96, before moving to Milele FM where he had been called by Mwakideu to revive their crazy Alex Na Jalas duo.
