Audio: Apprentice Narrates How Major Mugure Asked Him to Dispose Off Bodies For A Job In the Military

Collins Pamba who was a casual labourer at the senior officers’ mess in the Laikipia Airbase on Friday morning narrated to the High Court in Nyeri how he was lured into a murder in promise of military recruitment.

The co-accused narrated to the court how the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) ex-Air Force Major Peter Mugure called him and handed over the bodies of his estranged wife Joyce Syombua (31), children Shanice Maua (10) and Prince Michael (5) for disposal.

“He told me not to be shocked. He told me that this is the job he had been calling me to perform. He told me never to tell anybody what I’d seen and if he heard anything he’d also kill me. He also assured me that he’d make sure that I was recruited to the military during the national recruitment which was near… He told me to assist him carry the bodies to his vehicle, parked at the parking bay” the co-accused told the court.

Justice Jairus Ngaah also heard that the suspect (Mugure) had sent his sister to persuade the co-suspect (Pamba) in the murder case to recant a statement he’d recorded with the police.

Peter Mugure is accused of killing his wife Syombua and two children, and was Friday morning denied bail with the court citing the likelihood of witness tampering.

The case will be mentioned on March 23.
