Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has
ridiculed tangatanga leaders celebrating the decision that was made by the High
Court declaring the BBI bill null and void.

A five-judge bench of the High Court on Thursday, May 13, 2021 declared the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) process unconstitutional, dealing a major blow to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Handshake partner Raila Odinga and their supporters.

The Embakasi lawmaker has claimed that it is too early for the tangatanga leaders to celebrate the ruling that was made by the High Court, noting that all is not lost.

“Tanga Tanga celebration is as brief as an ejac*lation. This is politics, and the end will justify the means,” Babu said.

This is after leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto jumped into celebration mood moments after the ruling was made. The following are how some of the tangatanga lawmakers celebrated:

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria said
the whole BBI process was a ‘fraud’.

“I am feeling some ki-happiness that I cannot
explain. Any idea?”

“There was nothing really wrong with BBI except that it was a fraud. As I have been saying #FinishAndGo. We never had a constitutional moment. We had hubris of two unpopular men.” Kuria said.

Nominated senator Millicent Omanga who voted no for
the bill in the Senate, said she was proud to be on the right side of history.

“Proud to be on the right side of history. May the Almighty be praised,” Omanga said.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, lauded the judges for their brave ruling.

“When the history of Kenya is properly written, the contribution of Justices Joel Ngugi, George Odunga, Jairus Ngaah, Chacha Mwita and Teresia Matheka will be written in golden letters. They are part of the few remaining Kenyan prophets who have not bowed down to Baal. God bless you.” Murkomen said.

Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro thanked the Judiciary for their ruling declaring that few people cannot make decisions for millions of Kenyans.

“Kenya is not a private property of a few overbearing families. They took our land and started thinking they own us. Thank you Judiciary. We cannot allow this regime to convert Kenya into a patrimonial state for self-enrichment. We are Africans and Africa is our business.” Nyoro said.

Nandi senator Samson Cherargei said that the rule of law had been upheld by the landmark ruling.

“Fidelity, rule of law, justice served & Constitutionalism. There is hope for our beloved motherland. Justice be our shield and defender.” Cherargei stated.

The judgement was delivered by judges Joel Ngugi,
George Odunga, Jairus Ngaah, Chacha Mwita and Teresia Matheka.
