BBI Report proposes to expand tax base if adopted

The just released Building Bridges Initiative report is recommending the government to build economy down from the grassroots for Kenyans to realize meaningful and equal development.

The reports says that the tax base should be expanded but the overall taxation made low relative to competitor economies iin the region and around the world.

The BBI task force team led by Senator Yusuf Hajji said the government should empower young people to have more opportunity and income.

The report further added that the government should nurture and open opportunities for young Kenyans to reap  from their innovation and entrepreneurship.

“Increase employment and livelihoods by improving the environment for small businesses to compete and grow at affordable rates with reduced constraints”, the report read.

The 14 member team further urged the state to reduce conflict over national resources distribution by giving all Kenyans equal treatment.

Sharing of public resources should be done with a lot of care and balance to enable equal treatment of all Kenyans. this is to ensure that the marginalized are given more help where necessary.

The report further advises the government to consider priority sectors when lending.
