Gor Mahia, a 19-time Kenyan champion and local football powerhouse, and Betafriq, a gaming company that partnered with the team two months ago, have split ways.
After losing another shirt sponsor, the gaming company took over as the primary shirt sponsor in July and signed a hefty three-year, KSh. 228 million agreement.
Ambrose Rachier, the club’s chairman, acknowledged the most recent event by stating that they had received a notice of termination from the gaming company.
“We received a sponsorship termination letter from Betafriq. We understand their position which they clearly said was in good faith and we wish them well,” Rachier told Citizen Digital.
The chairman, however, confirmed that despite parting ways with the shirt sponsors, they will be engaging other potential sponsors and they are hopeful of nailing another deal soon.
“We are working on and hopefully we get another sponsor on board as soon as possible to cushion us as we prepare for the season ahead. We have potential partners who have shown interest and we hope things work out well.”
