Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi condemns harassment of abducted bloggers

Prolific blogger Cyprian Nyakundi has condemned the abduction and harassment of bloggers Milton Were and Jack Okinyi for a story they wrote about a scandal at the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA).

In a statement posted on his social media accounts that has huge followings, the blogger termed the arrests as a ‘sickening thirst for blood’.

Milton Were and Jack Okinyi owners of Kenya Today and Business Illustrated respectively had exposed a scandal at KURA in which a firm Tasha Holdings Limited , with no prior experience in road construction, was awarded a tender to construct a road in Banisa, Mandera County.

The project stalled after the owners, a MP Hon. Hassan Kulow Maalim and businessman Abdisirat Khalif Ali directed the monies fr the project to other personal interests.

Below is Cyprian Nyakundi’s statement

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE – DCI Thirst For Bloggers Blood Sickening

There was drama at Kibera Law Courts after DCI officers in a car reg numbers KBZ 259X again abducted Jack Okinyi and Milton Were after ODPP rejected the charge sheet against them.

The continued detention without formal charges amounts to unlawful detention and this must be condemned.

If the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE- Directorate of Criminal Investigations wants to be the prosecutorial authority, let them put it clear.

Again, I reiterate that we cannot handle matters meant to be civil with guns. Sadly, these are the dangers of cybercrime act that most of you championed for claiming that it would “tame” bloggers.

As my good friend Robert Alai said a few days ago, the system is just using Bloggers to test the draconian law! come election time, most of you will be whisked and silenced if you dare speak against the status quo.

We cannot expend the few resources we have to handle civil matters as crime rates rise and people squander billions of Covid19 funds. We are taking the wrong trajectory and the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE- DCI thirst for Bloggers blood has reached bad levels.
