Kenyan Blogger Robert Alai has revealed the reason he was arrested by the Anti-Terror police unit last year.
“If Daily Nation wants to save face over the DCI propaganda, they should immediately fire Kinoti’s propaganda dogs, Vincent Achuka and John Kamau. Through Maina Kageni, I was offered money to do the crap Achuka and John Kamau does. I was arrested and taken to ATPU when I refused”, he wrote.
Over the course of a few weeks, the DCI has been bashed on social media from Kenyans of all walks of life that can access internet, for bangling cases. The investigative arm of the Kenya police service had been sharing information with some journalists and thus earned them the tag ‘prosecuting cases through the media”.
In January, 2020 when they arrested blogger Cyprian Nyakundi, there were alot of articles and frenzy in the media. It only toned down their rhetoric and fixing of free speech champions, after it emerged that they had no case. Why hasn’t the Kenyan media asked where the case is. No one is reporting that DCI which shouted hoarse in the media doesn’t have a solid case in court.
Back to Robert Alai, he and a Twitter user Patrick Safari were arrested for sharing images of police officers killed by Al Shabaab. Turns, the DCI went on to violate another right of the blogger, they published his mugshot despite a coirt order not to do so.
DCI has been a law unto itself, pressuring DPP Haji to prosecute badly investigated cases, some of which are entrapment, because sting operations is unlawful in Kenya.
In Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi’s Case, it was even revealed by Blogger Robert Alai that the police that arrested Nyakundi were under the command of a known drug dealer Nurdin Tinta Akasha.
It seems like DCI Boss Kinoti has been captured by the cartels and is trying to shift blame on DPP Haji.
