Blow to DP Ruto as Jubilee’s James Nyoro joins Raila Odinga’s camp

Kibera DC grounds on 10th November 2019 saw Dr Alfred Mutua and Raila Odinga lead Kibera residents in a thanksgiving rally where Orange Democratic Movement Party and recent allies celebrated their victory in the Kibra by-elections.

ODM candidate Bernard Imran Okoth emerged winner in the hot contest, saving the party a huge disgrace as many saw the elections to be a great definer of Raila’s political strength in the country with the region being branded his “bedroom”.

Imran Okoth garnered 24,636 votes with Jubilee Party’s McDonald Mariga coming in second with 11,230 votes.

New Kiambu Kingpin James Nyoro was seen partying with ODM as he made his way to the DC grounds and took the podium to shower opposition leader with praises as well as invited him to pay Kiambu county a visit.

He also declared that Kiambu residents are children of handshake and Imran was the first born of the union between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Formerly Kiambu Deputy Governor Nyoro declared that he is in charge of the county affairs after Governor Ferdinand Waititu was barred from office.

Waititu was barred from accessing office after facing corruption charges in a Sh588 million scandal in which his own company is accused of receiving kickbacks in a road construction tender.

“We have had our first meeting and we are ready to work together,” he said.

Adding that,

“I am now in charge and the CECs and all county officials are ready to work with me. At this point, we are not talking about making changes, but we will work together as a team,” he said following fears that he was likely to kick out officials sympathetic to the embattled governor.
