Despite being the busiest border in Kenya, Malaba border is ranked by independent investigators as the most deadliest in relation to matters security.
Malaba is a busy crossing point between Uganda and Kenya. In 2013, it was the second-busiest border crossing between Uganda and Kenya, based on the volume of informal exports and imports, with experts now point that it might have surpassed the Busia ONE Stop border.
On Tuesday night, Webuye weighbridge police officers impounded two trailers which are believed to have been ferrying firearms and explosives to Uganda.
The intel from anonymous cop states that the two trailers were among five that were travellling from Mombasa to Kampala. The two trailers were seized at Dinaa area following a tip off from detectives
The source said that two other trailers had been seized in Nairobi while one in Bungoma. The trailers were held overnight under tight security at Webuye Police Station.
The Nation reports that Armed General Service Unit officers from Nairobi have since escorted the two trailers to an unknown destination.
The Police have said that the matter is sensitive and the contents that the trailers were ccarrying could not be revealed to the media.
Bungoma East Police boss Valerian Obore and County Police officers declined to comment on the matter, only saying that the matter was very sensitive.
Malaba border has been very controversial as it emerged sometime back that the border was being used by crooks who are politically connected to launder money and smuggle illegal goods.
When South Sudan was in civil war, it was alleged that fire arm smugglers were using the border to facilitate the banditry attacks.

Last week officers from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) seized illegal sugar at Sikata area that was believed to have been smuggled into the country.
The seven suspects who were arrested in the Sh2 million smuggling racket have since been arraigned in a Busia court.
