Yesterday, yet another video of Shighi, the prime suspect in the murder, narrated events that led to Okello’s stabbing. Shighi recounted that he and the boyfriend had an altercation, adding that she could not recall most of the details that led to the fatal stabbing.

“As we were throwing stuff at each other…let me tell you the truth I swear before God, I don’t know what happened next, all I know is that he beat me. I don’t know what happened, I cook for him every day and do everything for him. I don’t know, the knife was just there, all I know is that we were fighting,” Shighi narrated in a video that has since gone viral.

Officers, including those from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the house in Umoja and recovered a kitchen knife believed to have been used as a murder weapon. They also found a pool of blood in Okello’s living room.

Buruburu police boss Adamson Bungei said they needed more time to talk to the woman and collect more evidence.

“She needs to be taken to a psychiatrist and undergo other tests before she can stand trial,” he said.

The cases of men being skinned alive, stabbed to death and even worse, burnt alive have increased lately.

Late last month, a DCI officer burnt his husband in Embakasi, Fedha Estate after alleging that he was a community Husband.

A fortnight ago, a man was burnt alive in his car in another homicide case being investigated in Buruburu.

On Thursday last week, Susan Njeri Wachiuri, 25, was charged of stabbing his boyfriend Kelvin Njenga Ng’ang’a 11 times using a knife.
