Chronic Depression: Medical reports of Major Peter Mugure before killing his family revealed

Major Peter Mugure, the military man accused of murdering his estranged wife and two children, may have been suffering from chronic depression as per reports from his army base in Nanyuki.

According to a brief shared by Radio Jambo, his brothers in arms, while helping fill out a psych evaluation, stated that he was disturbed.

His mates at the Nanyuki Airbase claimed that they noticed a drastic change in Mugure ever since he crashed a plane during a training exercise.

“In one instance while he was still stationed at the airbase, I chanced upon him. He was standing motionless out in the yard, just gazing into the abyss, yet it was raining heavily. He stood there for over 30 minutes,” one of his former colleagues stated.

His sentiments were echoed by all the other officers who expressed similar concerns regarding Mugure’s mental state.

The former Major is the key suspect in the murder of his wife Joyce Syombua (31) and their children; Shanice Maua (10) and Prince Michael (5).

Mugure will spend the next 21 days in remand A Nanyuki court on Monday, November 18, ruled that Mugure be remanded for the next 21 days as officers for the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) carried out their investigations.

The same fate befell his co-accused Collins Pamba – a casual labourer at the Laikipia Airbase in Nanyuki, who is suspected to have helped the major bury bodies of the three victims.

The two accused were presented before Nanyuki Chief Magistrate Lucy Mutai.

The three bodies were found in a shallow grave within Thingithu Estate in Nanyuki on Saturday, November 16, 2019.

Elizabeth Maua, Syombua’s mother told Citizen TV that she had warned her daughter against travelling to Nanyuki to visit the KDF officer, a day before she went missing.
