City lawyer Donald Kipkorir who had been admitted to Agha Khan Hospital for two weeks on Monday 23 November 2020 narrated the horrifying experience of contracting the deadly COVID-19.
The lawyer narrated that he started experiencing a cold chill in his body on November 2 and despite taking a very hot shower, wearing two t-shirts, a sweater, two track-bottoms, and two duvets he never broke any sweat.
He thought that because he has never been admitted even once in his life he assumed the cold chill would fade away but it did not.
He said that it was then that he decided to visit Agha Khan Hospital on Friday 6 where the doctors did all tests on his blood and urine and found out that he was fine.
He then decided to test for COVID-19 and despite not having any classic symptoms, he tested positive.
“By the time I tested positive, my lungs had been compromised. The doctors had to work to help my lungs recover, my oxygen levels increased, and to have my body fight the viral attack. I have been on cocktails of medicine and oxygen since but now I’m well to be discharged to recuperate at home.”
“While admitted here at Aga Khan University Hospital, I got to learn about COVID-19, not much but a little. First, there is so much Science doesn’t know with certainty how COVID-19 is spread and when it stops being contagious,” he said.
Kipkorir mentioned that since before he knew he had COVID-19, he used to interact with people but they have all tested negative.
He added that he did not know where and how he contracted the disease adding that the only way to avoid the spread COVID-19 is through personal responsibility.
