The championships, hosted under Inspector General Douglas Kanja Kirocho, bring together elite performers drawn from various National Police Service units at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi, a venue regularly used for national-level athletics competitions within security service sporting programmes.

They serve as a structured athletics meet within the service calendar, aligned with physical readiness programmes and talent identification pathways for national representation, with athletes assessed across track and field disciplines over competitive heats and finals.

Competition dates are set for 26–27 May 2026, with events spanning track and field disciplines over the two-day schedule at Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Corporate backing draws from several local financial and commercial institutions, with sponsors being Co-operative Bank, Kenya National Police DT SACCO, Harambee SACCO, Nairobi Sports House, KCB, National Bank of Kenya, and DTB, reflecting structured engagement between sport administration and private sector funding.

Co-operative Bank’s Ksh 1,000,000 contribution positions it among key private sector supporters of the championships, channelling resources toward logistics, event operations, and athlete support structures linked to the meet at Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Presentation of the sponsorship was received by Inspector General Douglas Kanja Kirocho from Lena Yego, Head Retail Banking, during a handover at Jogoo House in Nairobi.

Said Lena Yego, Head Retail Banking, explaining the bank’s participation in the championships as part of its engagement with national sporting initiatives linked to staff welfare and community development priorities across its operational footprint.

The funding is directed toward event delivery costs and support for athletes preparing for competition at Ulinzi Sports Complex, covering logistical requirements tied to the two-day athletics programme.

The championships are structured to showcase athletic talent within the service while supporting fitness standards across units and creating pathways for selection into national and international athletics teams representing Kenya in regional and global meets.

The event is also tied to welfare outcomes for police personnel through sport-driven engagement and competitive exposure at a national stage, strengthening morale and performance culture within service ranks.

Sustained participation in the championships feeds into performance tracking systems for service athletes, with results feeding selection discussions for national and international competitions representing Kenya in athletics meets and regional championships.

The Ulinzi Sports Complex fixture also strengthens Nairobi’s role as a hub for service athletics events within the country’s sporting calendar, attracting structured competition across police formations.

Private sector sponsorship tied to such events continues to channel resources toward competitive sport development within uniformed services, aligning with structured training programmes and athlete development frameworks.
