The greedy and over-ambitious Nyeri Deputy Governor Dr. Caroline Karugu is now caught in a tight spot after corruption networks and former President Moi theft beneficiaries have hinged on her political naivety and gluttony, to tap her as their person to slow development progress in Mt. Kenya counties.
The purpose is to ensure that the current leadership is distracted from public service and when elections will be called in a few years, the power brokers and corruption networks will put in place their own drug dealers and corruption rings.
Currently, the cordial working relationship between governors, members of parliament and county assemblies are a hindrance to those seeking to make a quick buck while wasting Wananchi’s time.
Unable to resist the lure of cash hand-outs, alcohol and casual sex, Deputy Governor Caroline Karugu is now moving from County to County in Mt. Kenya region inciting MCAs and County Assemblies to rebel against the executives. For her efforts, Dr. Caroline Karugu is provided with funds, alcohol and networks to run publicity campaigns to mud sling elected leaders.
Her campaign is funded by a previous election loser and a cabinet secretary she is sleeping with. Speaking in a private function at a Nyeri hotel recently, the perennial election loser and a former Chairman of a corruption-ridden parastatal said that they will stop at nothing to ensure Mt. Kenya “imekorogwa kila siku”. Speaking in Kikuyu the former chairman added, “andu, mahana ta thakame, mendaga maikare magikorogagwo matikamate, loosely translated to mean that wananchi need to be kept stirred constantly so that they won’t have peace to settle and do their business. This woman is excited about money and she has presented herself, “we will pay her for the effort”, he told the gathering,”
Recently while working on this brief at the swearing-in ceremony for the new Kiambu Governor Dr. Nyoro, Caroline Karugu condemned the MCA from Mt. Kenya for failing to impeach governors and offered to get them funded to go to Kiambu and learn how to destroy their current leadership. Claiming that the county assemblies were useless for focusing on their jobs instead of engaging in fights, Caroline Karugu celebrated the challenges and political fights and pledged to have more of those in other counties.
To reward her for her effort and to entice her further, the corruption networks are providing deputy governor Karugu with high profile publicity and free media access.
The death of President Daniel Arap Moi recently gave the senior civil servants and power brokers one such opportunity where they organized that Deputy Governor Karugu passes a phony condolence message on behalf of a previously unheard of Karugu family.
In addition, the public servants have looped in a senior media executive from Nyeri, who is also in the hotel industry to provide her with free airtime whenever they need her to speak. To compensate the media house, government advertising will be driven to his employer media house. To give Deputy Karugu further clout in Mt. Kenya Counties the power brokers are pushing other cabinet secretaries to join Dr Karugu in local functions, including her birthday to try and boost her chances to run their agenda.
However, in her home county of Nyeri, the County Assembly, having seen the previous county assembly fail to achieve anything, because of similar controversies with the late Governor Gachagua, the assembly has given her campaigns a wide berth and warned her to eat her money quietly.
Following Caroline Karugus’ attacks and campaign the MP for Mathira, Hon. Geoffrey Gachagua has come out strongly admonishing Caroline Karugu and demanding that she learns to respect the leadership in Nyeri County and the rest of the Mt. Kenya region. “Acha mehemehe na kiherehere,” Gachagua told her to the thunderous cheers of thousands of people in Nyeri, “these people don’t know who you are or where you come from or what you are about. You must respect the leadership in Nyeri because all of us are pulling together each one doing the work that wananchi gave us. Only you in this region is running with kiherehere” He added.
From Kiambu, Caroline Karugu was instructed to go to Kirinyaga County where she has aggressively been engaging with MCAs agitating them to raise a raucous over the Mwea-Embu land controversy that Governor Anne Waiguru has been handling effectively.
Our sources in the corridors of power have intimidated that Dr. Caroline Karugu is in Kirinyaga and Mwea working with local political networks in stroking the now emerging controversy related to the Kemri Research project, pitting the PS for Internal Security Karanja Kibicho and Governor Anne Waiguru. The plan is to incite the members of the county assemblies to raise up in arms against the Governor and eventually bring back the National Youth Services controversies that will keep the Governor busy until election time.
Hon Gachagua has also come out strongly to demand respect for Governor Anne Waiguru, asking the PS Internal Security to stay off elected leaders and concentrate on his work. Speaking at a Church function in Nairobi, Hon Gachagua said that though he disagrees with Governor Waiguru, on many things, she must be respected by public servants as an elected leader. “I am demanding respect for elected leaders from these appointed people.” He added.
Deputy Caroline Karugu is also having serious challenges working with civil servant staff at the Nyeri County. Her bossy and demeaning attitude towards her support staff has caused many to resist duty allocation to her office. Caroline has just been the deputy governor in Nyeri County for just over a year. In that time Caroline Karugu has fired four personal assistants and none of them has been sent away for any justifiable reason except that she is tired of seeing them.
Her handlers in Cabinet are the reason she will be mistreating her personal security detail for a long time. Recently, Caroline Karugu ordered an armed female police officer out of her official car and abandoned her on the roadside at the thug infested Marua Junction way past midnight because she needed to rush to Nairobi to join her Cabinet sponsor for the night.
To remain close to her handlers and be available for them for personal errands and sexual favours, Caroline Kaungu does not work from her office in Nyeri. The slay queen deputy governor lives in Nairobi and only sends her official vehicle 200KM to Nyeri for fuelling and back to the city.
