Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu Asks DP Ruto To Step Aside Over Arms Deal

Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu has waded into the Ksh40 billion arms deal and corruption allegations against Deputy President William Samoei Ruto telling the DP to resign.

DP Ruto’s friend, former sports CS Rashid Echesa was arrested on Thursday and locked up over what was termed as an attempt to con foreigners off their Ksh40 billion pretending to agree to supply Kenya with military hardware.

The house of the CS and the office of the DP have been raided by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives.

Here is the statement posted on her social media accounts.

I am shocked by the revelations that seemingly fraudulent activities of high magnitude can be hatched and planned in the office of the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.

The Deputy President’s Office, is part of the Presidency which 47 million Kenyans have entrusted with high responsibilities and especially ensuring security of citizens and their property. The holder of this office, therefore. is expected to be beyond reproach.

It’s disheartening to learn that this trust has seemingly been broken by the Deputy President who has clearly breached the security of the country by engaging in fake arms deal.

It is now evidently clear through his own admission that these activities have been taking place in his office. which he admitted in his tweet that the meeting took place albeit for 23 minutes.

This happening in an office that should be beyond reproach is certainly putting the country, the Presidency to shame, ridicule and has now gone beyond acceptable limits.

This is not the first time Or Ruto’s name has been mentioned in similar fraudulent activities.

Stephen Ngei Musyoka proprietor of Makindu Motors, is a living victim of these mafia like schemes that take place at the DPs office. In 2018, in a similar run in with conmen
operating from Dr Ruto’s office, Mr Musyoka supplied 2,800 laptops worth Sh200 million. To date Mr Musyoka has never been paid.

The Deputy President should stop hoodwinking Kenyans through tweets and do the honorable thing, STEP ASIDE and let investigations be conducted in an impartial environment.
