Court Halts Suspension Of KQ Employee Gire Ali

The Constitutional and Human Rights Division of the High Court on Monday ordered Kenya Airways (KQ) to Reinstate KQ employee Gire ali who was suspended for filming the arrival of over 200 Chinese nationals aboard a China Southern Airlines plane causing public uproar.

The court also ordered any efforts by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to arrest one the employee Gire dropped.

Mr Ali, an Assistant Security Agent, through his lawyer Danstan Omari, had moved to court under certificate of urgency to sue his employer KQ for suspending him for filming the plane which landed with 239 passengers from China amid the deadly Corona Virus  (COVID-19) spread.

Justice Weldon Korir said the orders will remain in force pending the hearing and determination of Ali’s application filed by Danstan Omari.

The matter will be heard inter parties on March 5
