COVID-19: CAS Aman confirms 309 new infections

Kenya’s Covid-19 cases rose to 7,886 on Sunday, July 5, after 309 individuals tested positive in the preceding 24 hours.

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 press conference, Health CAS Rashid Aman stated that the latest numbers affirmed the fact that the country was experiencing the steepest part of the infection rate curve.

4,228 samples had been tested in the same period of time bringing a cumulative figure of 189,263 of tests done so far.

Out of the 309 cases, 217 were male with 92 being female. The youngest was a 1-year-old infant, while the oldest was identified as an 83-year-old man.

An additional 51 people were discharged from various health facilities across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,287.

Sadly the death toll rose to 160, with CAS Aman revealing that 1 more patient succumbed to the virus.

Nairobi led with 193 cases with Kajiado following at 22, Kiambu 20, Mombasa 18, Makueni 17, Busia 11, Machakos 9, Nakuru 8, Nandi 3, Turkana 3, Narok 2, Nyandarua 1, Kakamega 1, and Kilifi 1.
