COVID-19: CAS Mwangangi announces 278 new cases

Kenya’s COVID-19 cases have risen to 5811 after 278 more individuals tested positive in the last 24 hours.

Speaking during the daily COVID-19 press conference on Saturday, June 27, Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi stated that Nairobi county lead with 171 cases.

4,074 samples had been tested in the same period of time bringing a cumulative figure of 162, 478 of tests done so far.

Out of the 278 cases, 181 were male with 97 being female. The youngest is a one-year-old infant while the oldest is an 84-year-old.

Out of today’s cases, all, except two are Kenyans.

31 patients have been discharged bringing the total number of patients who have recovered to 1,936.

Unfortunately, four more patients have died bringing the total number of those who have succumbed to 141.

The cases in the counties were as follows, Nairobi (171), Mombasa, (37), Nakuru (17), Kiambu (12), Busia (10), Migori (3), Kajiado (4), Uasin Gishu 9, Kericho (2), Machakos (2), Nandi (2), Trans Nzoia (2), Siaya (1), Taita Taveta (1), Kwale (1), Makueni (1), Kisumu (1), Meru (1), Vihiga (1).

In Nairobi, the cases are distributed as Westlands (34), Lang’ata (28), Dagoretti North (17), Makadara (16), Kibra (11), Embakasi East (10), Kasarani (9), Embakasi South (8), Kamukunji (8), Starehe (6), Embakasi West (5), Dagoretti South (5), Embakasi Central (4), Roysambu (4), Mathare (3), Ruaraka (2), Embakasi North (1).
