COVID-19: Jeff Koinange speaks on life in self-isolation

News anchor Jeff Koinange on Wednesday, July 22 shared his COVID-19 story detailing how he believes he got the virus.

The news anchor appeared live on JKLive show, hosted by colleague Victoria Rubadiri, saying he believed he got the virus at the RMS’ radio station.

This is after they were urged to get tested by their boss, Wachira Waruru, due to someone at work testing positive and naming him as his contact.

Jeff said he was feeling very good seemingly because he was asymptomatic and had only lost a bit of taste while in self-Isolation.

He said he decided to go public with his positive result saying he wanted to demystify the whole thing and had received warmed messages ever since with some advising him on all types of cures.

“Oh my God! On the first day, I had like 3,000 messages on WhatsApp, another 2,000 on SMS and tweets. Most of the people have been incredibly warm, they are praying for me, saying come back strong, hang in there.

“Others are offering all types of cure, they say ‘Drink a lot of lemon water, ginger and garlic, take vitamin C, seat in the sun for like 20 minutes,” he said.

Jeff also named a few people who had sent him stuff and called him to wish him a quick recovery including Githu Muigai, Kihara Kariuki and Francis Atwoli.

The news presenter also said how his schedule had changed but his daily clock was still the same and he woke up at 4am as usual.

“So I’m up, walking around the house now. Oh, the show has started, but I can not go back to bed and now till 10 o’clock my mind is programmed to radio,” he said.

Jeff said he was keeping busy with Netflix and talking walks around the house and he was also hydrating a lot with the lemon, ginger mix and he would be back sooner than later.

“Treat it seriously, because this thing is no joke. A lot of people are walking out there and they probably have it and are in denial or they think it’s gonna go away if you can – get tested early so that you save yourself and those around you,” Jeff added.
