COVID-19: Kenya records 473 new cases, 76 recoveries

Kenya has recorded 473 new cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19) with the total cases reported so far rising to 9,448.

The cases were recorded from 6,979 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced on Friday, July 10 while inspecting Kilifi County’s Covid-19 preparedness to determine areas of support needed.

The total samples tested since Coronavirus broke out in March 2020 now stands at 206,584.

Out of the 473 positive cases, 324 were male and 149 were female. The youngest case reported was 1 year with the oldest at 90 years.

76 people recovered from Covid-19 with the total tally of recoveries totalling at 2,733.

Eight patients passed away in the last 24 hours with the death toll rising to 181.

CS Kagwe mourned Dr. Adisa Lugaliki, Kenya’s first medic to succumb to Coronavirus.

The CS lauded health workers who have placed their lives on the line to serve and protect Kenyans.

The CS noticed that 42 out of 47 counties had recorded coronavirus with Nairobi leading with 5,188 cases.

“It is a sad day for all of us and we ask God to protect for their families. Let us all pray for our health care workers.

“On behalf of the nation and the government, I send condolences to the family of the fallen doctor,” Kagwe eulogised.
