Cracks Emerge As ODM Rebel MPs Fight Over State House Millions

Cracks have emerged within the camp of Luo MPs opposing ODM leader Raila Odinga over State House millions and supremacy war linked to the delicate mission of toppling the opposition veteran as the Luo political king pin.

The camp of the ODM rebel MPs intially worked together, but money has caused sharp divisions, with everyone battling to control the millions of shillings from State House and protocol, when it comes to who should be the spokesperson.

So far, some of them have landed state appointments, and more than Sh10 million has been channeled to the team to scuttle Odinga’s political influence in Luo Nyanza.

The group presented an outrageous operation budget to president William Ruto’s handlers directly involved in handling the welfare of the politicians’ assigned to dim Odinga’s political star under the guise of taking development to the people Luo Nyanza.

Luo Nyanza has been an opposition zone since the country’s independence in 1960s, with three presidents failing to neutralize Odingas’ influence. Pundits opine that many factors are threatening to abort ODM rebel mp’s plan at its puberty stage and it’s beginning to disturb the financiers of the mission.

Odinga rebels have reportedly become petty by diverting to a war zone that has split them into three main categories, and therefore hampering the mission. Those from the South Nyanza argue that it is their time to shine and will no longer be controlled by their counterparts from Siaya, which is the bastion of Raila Odinga.

The debate has led to a heated power struggle pitting ICT CS Eliud Owalo, who hails from Asembo in Siaya, and his interior counterpart PS Raymond Omollo, from the aggrieved South Nyanza region. Owalo is said to be busy assembling his political arsenals to remain on top of the power game.

The recent expose on the looting of Sh100 million from retirees of Lake Basin Development Authority was reportedly sponsored by Owalo’s camp as a move to clip the wings and horns of PS Omolo whose influence as the centre of power is growing at a disturbing rate and set to topple Owalo and his troupe.

Power barons have learnt of the animosity between the two and have directed them to work in harmony by appearing in public rallie together to clear any suspicion that they are fighting each other.

They recently met UDA grassroots leaders and coordinators from Nyanza region at Owalo’s Asembo home in Siaya county and later hosted a splinter group of Luo Council of Elders led by Mzee Ker Nyandiko Ongadi, at the same venue.

Another group is also questioning whether Owalo and Omolo were appointed to champion anti Raila politics in Luo Nyanza or to serve the people of Kenya through their respective ministries.

Ex-Nyakite MP Edick Anyanga is also causing ruckus and demanding to be on the frontline in the new operation to neutralize Mzee Odinga that State House heavily funds. The group also has UDA politicians who have launched scathing attacks against their Luo counterparts who are financially favoured by State House, arguing that they sacrificed to back Ruto’s presidency and, therefore, should not be forgotten now that State House is generously dishing out millions.

Kenyan Bulletin has established that part of the plot to finish Odinga includes activating goons against his political activities the same way late President Daniel Moi.

Moi never succeeded in taming Odinga, neither did former president Mwai Kibaki and the immediate former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

But experts are quick to point out that the chaos witnessed in Kisii after Odinga and his group held a rally at Gusii Stadium was part of the script to tame him in the entire Nyanza. Odinga was quick to fired back, insisting that Ruto will not succeed in killing democracy Kenyans fought for decades.

The rebel group also includes Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda and his Langata counterpart Felix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o. Bondo is Odinga’s rural home.

Chances are high Ruto might succeed in sending Odinga to retirement after the ODM failed to clinch presidency in August 2022. Last year’s elections marked Odinga’s fifth unsuccessful attempt to become Kenya’s president.
