Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has implored former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita to drop his Machakos Gubernatorial bid in favour of Wiper candidate Wavinya Ndeti.
Speaking in Masinga on Sunday afternoon where he had accompanied Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga, Kalonzo said he will initiate talks between the two for a compromise.
“Mimi nina furaha ya kuona team ya Wiper iko strong, muwaangalie vizuri. Hao wengi ni vijana wetu. Bwana Nzioka, my friend, I will talk with him. Kwa sasa mnaona Wavinya ako sawa sawa,” he said, speaking in Swahili.
In a quick rejoinder, Waita urged Kalonzo to keep off Machakos politics and allow the residents to elect the leaders of their choice.
“Kalonzo Musyoka, kwa heshima, haujachukua kura yako hapa Machakos.
Kwa hivyo omba kura za Baba, mengine utuachie, tutajipanaga, watu wa Machakos sio wajinga hio dawa unajaribu kutupatia haimezeki,” he wrote on his official Twitter page.

The remarks come barely a week after Waita dismissed social media rumours that he had dropped out of the race.
Speaking in Murang’a on Saturday, Raila’s running mate Martha Karua hinted at the possibility of uniting and fielding single candidates for Azimio.
Raila says Azimio will prioritize the high cost of living if elected President, saying he will ensure the cost of basic commodities such as flour, and cooking oil among others reduce as soon as he ascends to office.
Various candidates and leaders affiliated with Azimio accompanied him and were even gifted a goat as a sign of goodwill as campaigns gather momentum.
