Cristiano regrets joining the ‘old ladies’

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly revealed to some of his ex-Real Madrid teammates that he regrets leaving the Spanish giants to join the Italian side, Juventus.

He feels he stood higher chances of winning more Ballon d’Ors if he stayed in Spain.

Ronaldo, 34,  left Madrid after nine seasons in the Spanish capital to join Juventus at £88m in 2018, and has since scored 37 goals in 61 appearances.

He lifted Serie A and Italian Super Cup last season but according to ABC, the striker told his former colleagues that he believes he would have added to his five Ballon d’Ors if he had stayed in Spain.

Croatian midfielder Luka Modric won the award last year and Lionel Messi claimed his sixth Ballon d’Or after winning it this year.

Ronaldo has expressed his disappointment at missing the individual award for the last two seasons, and feels he would have had a better chance of claiming his sixth if he stayed at Madrid.

Messi now remains the all-time record winner of the award, and definitely that is a blow to Ronaldo, who was drawing with the Barcelona forward before he won his sixth this year.

Ronal has been in good form in recent weeks, scoring six goals in his last five games for club and country and is looking forward to to continue his fine performance through the festive period to the end of the season.

Juventus will face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Wednesday but have already sealed qualification for the knockout stages of the competition.

They are also scheduled to take on Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A before playing Lazio in the Italian Super Cup final on December 22.
