CS Kagwe’s Dire Warning to Mandera Quarantine Escapees

The Cabinet Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe has warned that the 32 people that bribed their way out of a quarantine facility in Mandera will be dealt with ‘with the full force of the law”.

“We are aware that some have offered bribe to get out of quarantine. In Mandera, some bribed their way out of quarantine. They & those who let them will face the full force of the law”, CS Kagwe said

Speaking during a press conference giving updates on the COVID-19 disease, Kagwe also said that he is aware that people are still getting in and out of restricted areas using various unlawful means such as boarding cargo truck, feigning funerals, etc.

A few days ago, Mandera south Elwak Deputy OCPD a Mr Hamdi Mohammoud was accused of taking sh5000 bribe from people who had been quarantined after having sneaked out of Nairobi City.

The CS today announced that 16 more Kenyans tested positive for the COVID-19 virus; this brings the total to 262. 60 patients (7 people discharged) have so far recovered, 12 people (2 more died in the last 24 hours) have died.

The 16 positive samples are from 1115 tested.
