Open Letter to Raila Odinga Kalonzo Musyoka Musalia Mudavadi Moses Wetangula and DP William Ruto on BBI
It should now be clear to you all that BBI is Uhuru Kenyatta’s project to remain in power and you are all pawns in, and enablers of whatever his game is.
As a retiring president, Uhuru has no mandate to meddle in the country’s political future. He should preparing to retire into quiet private life, following the excellent precedence set by Moi and Kibaki. Ask yourself why he is hellbent on remaining politically relevant?
The path Uhuru Kenyatta he has taken is no different from Trump. Contemplate whether you want the legacy of GOP leaders who wouldn’t stand up to Trump, even as his madness was no longer in doubt, and will now go down in history as the enablers of his attempted insurrection.
I am therefore appealing to you, on behalf of the Kenyan people. Please, pull the plug on this BBI madness, so that we can have the rational, sober national dialogue that the country so desperately needs at this juncture.
Only one of you is going to emerge president. That person will want to have the legitimacy and goodwill needed to lead the country out of the deep economic crisis. Sit down with William Ruto and show the country that all of you can put your ambitions aside for the country.
Whichever one of you it is that becomes president will not want Uhuru’s shadow following you. You do not want your presidency to start with the political bloodletting of destroying the kingmaker, as Moi had to do with Charles Njonjo. The country does not need that turmoil.
Kindly peruse the attached NASA three point “Roadmap to Electoral Justice and Just Government” we released on 18 February 2018. I submit to you that it is superior framework to BBI for debating and resolving the systemic electoral failure that is holding this country back.
Our constitutional experts and political thinkers have solutions—we’ve debated them for years. Indeed, I am aware of some that were proposed to the BBI task force that were rejected, or doctored out of the genuine report. Why? Because solving them is not Uhuru’s agenda.
We are in yet another political crisis, tottering on the precipice of state failure, because of the many historical turning points ego driven parochial politics have squandered. Another turning point is upon us. Lets not squander it. We never know when our luck will run out.
