DCI Detectives Arrest Suspects In Ksh800K Theft

The Directorate Of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday arrested three robbery with violence suspects who stole cash and Phones from an Mpesa shop in Laikipia on Thursday night.

‘Three Robbery With Violence suspects who last night stole over Ksh.800K Cash & Five Smartphones from a Businesslady at Ng’arua, Laikipia County were early today arrested by DCI Detectives & Ksh.147K Cash & the 5 Mobile Phones recovered. Placed in custody & being interrogated’, the agency wrote.

The lady is said to operate an Mpesa, KCB and Equitel Mobile Banking Agency while in her sister’s company were accosted by the gang armed with two AK47 Rifles who fired in the air before snatching the bag containing those properties as the duo was heading home.

The thieves then escaped into a nearby maize plantation but were arrested after a report was logged in at the local police station and Detectives mounted a manhunt.

The three who were arrested were Samuel Kanyoro, Antony Ngunjiri and Samwel Rokiring.

DCI said the trio were arrested with a phone that has Equitel Agency Banking with a ‘float of over Ksh2 Million in the owner’s account’.

The Directorate stated that more suspects in the Robbery are being pursued.

‘Pursuit of more perpetrators believed to have disappeared with the rest of the money ongoing as those arrested pend arraignment on Monday’, DCI concluded.
