DCI detectives have raided the home of the former Sports Secretary Rashid Echesa in Karen, Nairobi in their search for documents relating to the Sh40 billion fake arms deal the politician was engaged in.

Officers from the Economic Crimes Unit were first denied entry into premise but forced their way in hours later. It is not clear if the certified charlatan was at home during the morning raid but reports indicated that he kept off the detectives demanding to search warrants before he could allow the in but they gained entry by climbing over the wall.
The sleuths were also investigating the ownership of motor vehicles inside the posh home.
Echesa is the prime suspect in a case where together with three others, the ex minister accused of offering a fake arms deal to polish businessmen, in a deal brokered at the Harambee Annex, of of the deputy president of the republic.
Deputy President William Ruto has distanced himself Echesa and the saga as he asked Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai to investigate the matter and parties involved. He laso advised the police boss to bar the foreigners from leaving the country until the investigations are done.
The case should getting more serious and taking a another twist after an officer stationed at the Harambee Annex office, Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei was found dead at his Imara Daima home a week after the case commenced.
The slain officer was on duty the day Echesa and his company visited the Annex office. He is said to have ushered them in and had a brief chat with former minister.
Autopsy condected last week showed that Kenei died of a single gunshot that entered his body through the chin and exited his forehead.
