DCI Officer arrested over assault, drunken driving – The Informer

A Directorate of Criminal Investigations Police Constable attached to Karen Police Station tomorrow morning be arraigned to face charges of assault and drunken driving after he assaulted a traffic police officer along Magadi Road over the weekend.

PC Nicholas Kiptoo was captured in an armature video assaulting his colleague when he was flagged down for driving recklessly endangering his life and other road users.

At the time, he was driving a Subaru saloon registration number KBM 149F.

“He will fave several charges including driving under influence of alcohol c/se 44(1)of the traffic act, assaulting a police officer c/sec 103 of the National Police Service Act (NPSA)
and failing to stop c/sec 65(2) of the NPSA.” A senior officer said.

According to eyewitnesses, the said vehicle was being driven in a zigzag manner from Ongata Rongai towards kiserian.

“He then waved down the driver to stop but the driver defied and continued driving. The police rider then followed the vehicle and attempted to block it but again the Subaru driver pushed him out of the road, hitting the police motorcycle reg no.GkB 824A.” Our source added.

He was then pursued by police and intercepted at Karen county club where the driver parked his vehicle off the road , alighted and immediately accosted.

However, he was overpowered and booked at Karen Police Station awaiting to be presented in court tomorrow morning.
