Dennis Itumbi discharged from hospital

Ailing digital journalist Dennis Itumbi will receive the rest of his medical treatment from home.

Delivering the news on Saturday morning, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Director of Communications Wanjohi Githae confirmed that the vocal William Ruto aide was officially discharged from the Nairobi West Hospital.

“Happy New Year folks, I am pleased to inform you that Dennis Itumbi has been discharged from hospital. We can only be thankful to God,”  Wanjohi noted in the statement.

This comes barely two weeks after the blogger checked into the facility bearing serious injuries which he claimed to have incurred during a nasty abduction incident.

From his own account, he was allegedly abducted last Thursday, 23rd December from a barbershop along Kiambu Road and later found dumped in Lucky Summer, Kasarani.

Itumbi once worked as Secretary of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President, but broke ranks with State House before crossing over to DP Ruto’s camp as a digital strategist.

On Tuesday, December 28, Ruto visited Itumbi in hospital, five days after the alleged abduction occurred.

He later took to his official Twitter page to suggest that police had a hand in Itumbi’s attack.

A section of politicians allied to DP Ruto also claimed, without proof, that Itumbi was beaten by the police.
